The Global Goals in Travel: A Course for Tourism Professionals & Destinations

Sustainably developing tourism is more important than ever, for travellers, the industry and most importantly the world. While Earth Changers have always been involved in positive impact tourism, Covid has hit travel and the travel industry hard, making resilience all the more urgent, and fast forwarding the need and desire for sustainability in the tourism industry by years.

Tourism for Sustainable Development

Earth Changers were, as far as we know the first commercial tourism organisation in the world to write about tourism and the SDGs in 2016. We’d been studying and working in it for many years, and seen the progression from the Millennial Development Goals to the SDGs, adopted in 2015, launched in 2016, and begun to be addressed by the Year of Sustainable Development for Tourism in 2017.

The Global Goals in Travel

The course will cover every SDG. We’ll help you understand and apply the sustainable development goals to your organisation or destination. This isn’t lip-service, or just about responsible or sustainable tourism, this is addressing the fundamental shift in values required to support the industry as a tool for sustainable development as called for by the UN Global Goals 2030 Agenda.

Learn from the Best: We will explain each SDG and its aims, and present leading case study examples worldwide to help you address sustainable development.

Apply: Understand the context of each SDG, the impact of Covid, and where you might need to prioritise.

Measure: Learn how the SDGs are targeted and measured, what you can apply to your own organisation and where you might need to focus.

Plan for Action: Get concrete recommendations on how to support each SDG and understand how it interlinks with the other goals.
